Buh-Bye 2012, Hello 2013

Well Guys it is here, the New Year!
Idea note_4_01
Don't you just love the Gir footie pajamas!
Do y'all have anything special planned? We have decided to have a low key night, eat good food and play board games. I know it sounds so wild and crazy but that is how we party at my house. I bet I will be in my footie pajamas drinking cocoa as close to the fire as I can until we decide to bear  the frigged mid 50's temperatures to see fireworks.

I how y'all have a safe and happy new year!!!

Merry (belated) Christmas!

I hope that y'all had a wonderful Christmas! I know that I was so happy to spend time with my family and eat great food. I had to bounce from house to house and we had horrible weather Christmas day but it was so worth it!

Prancing Reindeer nailsUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitledUntitled

I had festive nails all December (I missed taking pictures of 2 different nails a snowman set and lights)
We played with the Princess' wigs. Watched her in the church performance. Made some horrible gingerbread houses. let The Mister do my make-up (horribly if I may say so my self). The Princess pretending to be Rudolph. And The Princess opening presents Christmas morning. ( Learned that our parents do not like to be woken up at 5 am to open presents, they sent us back to bed. or me back to the Princess bed and she cuddled with our snoring parents.{I was so happy to speed in my own bed at home the next night let me tell you!!})

I wish I would have taken out my camera at all of our stops but I was so tired after being woken up at 5 am. But I want to know how y'all's Christmas' were, and if you do not celebrate how did you spend your weekend?

Style File Friday: Christmas!

Cozy Christmas

Cozy Christmas by jesslsteele featuring zipper jeans

I am back into the Christmas spirit! It could be because I have my office Christmas lunch today, or that Christmas is right around the corner but I love this outfit! I wish I could find a sweater like this(and not spend an arm and a leg)! Anywho are you getting all festive in your clothing choices?

Still so somber

I was wanting to do a count down to Christmas like I did for Halloween but then I made the mistake of turning on the news last Friday and I have not been able to put a post together. I am so sad for the families, I am sad for the town, I am sad for the children who survived and are being bombarded by news crews to get their reaction, and I am sorry for everyone in that whole situation. I was crying all day Friday and I went to go see The Princess preform at her school and I could not wait to give her a huge hug. I held her until it was time to go, then I cried the whole way home thinking how could anyone hurt such sweet angels like that. I want to teach that age range of children and I love all children that I meet, and I am still at a loss of how this could happen.

All of that being said I think the news coverage of the event should be over with. The media is making this into a media spectacular to get more views at the cost of the families trying to heal and the are planting the seed in peoples heads. By that I am talking about copy-cat crimes. After the tragedy at Columbine there was a media frenzy and because of that there were copycats like this. This explains the phenomenon a bit more.

I am truly heart broken, but it is time to stop with the 24-hour news feed, stop talking about the killer. Stop turning another killer's name into a household name, stop making these killers into celebrities. Can you name anybody killed in Columbine? No. Well how about the name of the killers, of course. What about Charles Manson? Can you name any of his kills? or Ted Bundy? or any other mass murderer? They become infamous but their victims are not they are just the nameless who made the killer famous. It hurts me to say that but it is so true. I want to make a happy post but I had to get that all out. Thank you if you read this. I had to have my rant.

I love you all and I hope that you and your loved ones are safe and happy this holiday season & I will hopefully do a Christmas post before the big day.

Another one has come and gone

Well my birthday is official over! Last night I got my very last present. I feel so blessed to have the family and friends that I do who spoil me. But now that it is over I can focus on the next year of my life and to help me with that I have 25 before 26!
25 before 26_01

This list seems a little easy but it is something I am sure I can achieve.
( I use my new toy to make this list. I love my Galaxy Note!!!)

Do y'all make a list like this? IF so I would love to see it!!!

Results of 24 before 25

I know that y'all were so curious on how well I did on my 24 before 25. Well I did okay.

24 before 25_01

I decided to omit number 1, 17, 10 and 11 so I could focus on wedding stuff.
Number 2 is partially done. I have clean and organized it but I have not yet decorated it. I am waiting on our new floors.
Number 8 we decided we might turn the laundry room (more like closet) around so it will not open in the dining room.
Number 9 fix up bedroom - I was just to darn lazy for this one.
Number 16 I am waiting for after the wedding (2 months and 19 days)
Number 21 again I just was too lazy and failed at this one.

I was able to finish up all of the others!!! We tidy up everyday before bed and on the weekends we do laundry and a deep clean. Our living room looks great (minus floors). I donated clothes to goodwill and my sister. I have used pinterest and worked on making new recipes by adding and omitting ingredients based on our tastes. I have 2 pen pals, one online one through snail mail. Had a girls night not long ago and a good friend of mine too my engagement pictures.

I am so proud of how well I did and I hope I do as well on my next list. It should be up later this week I still need 3 more to come up with.

Bridesmaids dress of horror!

I know that in the world of weddings there are some horrific bridesmaid dresses. Well this weekend we found a great one!
As you can tell they look so amused! I cannot imagine this dress looking good on anyone. (if anyone has worn this and pulled it off please send me a picture) We were able to find the dress the girls are wearing but we had a good time with dresses like this!

Best Ice Cream - Blue Bell

Now I know that Blue Bell Ice Cream is a Southern thing but it is seriously the best ice cream ever. I love homemade ice cream but Blue Bell tastes just as good (if not better) and is so convenient. Over the weekend The Mister and I were getting groceries and we found the 'cream of the crop' (see what I did there) of ice creams...
Spiced Pumpkin Pecan ice cream! Um yes sir, I will take the whole thing please. We had to get this and let me tell you we fell in love! I usually go for Pecan Praline but I have absolutely found my new favorite. The Mister and I have been eating this with a bit of eggnog as dessert after dinner and it make me so happy to not be lactose-intolerant.

If you do not have this in your local grocery store you can order it from Blue Bell's website or make your own but I highly recommend trying this amazing ice cream.

What is your favorite ice cream holiday or not?

P.S. I hope y'all had a Happy Thanksgiving. I enjoyed my time off with family.

The sweetest blogger Tottie nominated me for a Liebster Award.

Cleanest Turkey "Fryer"

This is my first year to cook Thanksgiving dinner (well at least part of it). The Mister is going to cook the turkey and since we do not have a turkey fryer we had to buy one. I really had to twist The Misters's arm on this one. We went to Academy and we looked at the traditional fryers but for a good stainless steel pot instead of an aluminium one we had to pay an extra $50. We decided that $50 for the burner + $50 for a pot + the giant thing of peanut oil every time we had wanted to cook was a little too much. We found thins bad boy on sale for $79!!!
And as you can tell somebody was VERY happy.
Untitled
(Ignore the ugly floors! We need to knock out a few walls before we lay new floors down.)
Basically all of that was to show you this!
Untitled
We had to test out the fryer before T-day so we cooked a drunken chicken and it was so moist, and the skin was so crispy! Clean up was a cinch - everything is dishwasher save and the best part.... NO OIL TO RECYCLE OR DISPOSE OF!!!!! If you are in the market for a good fryer for your Thanksgiving turkey I recommend this 100%. I am not going to make health claims but I am assuming it is healthier (no oil and all). I have only found one thing that a traditional fryer has this beat and that is that you cannot boil crawfish in it but I can always borrow my Dad's for that right?

How are you preparing for Thanksgiving?

Fashion File Friday:

Fall Stroll

Fall Stroll by jesslsteele featuring michael kors tops

Trying to get into the Fall Spirit so I felt what would be better than some nice oranges, browns and blacks. For some odd reason I am really loving black and brown together right now.
