Cozy Nights

So as we all know I am NOT a fan of cold weather and lately it has been so cold! Yesterday was 32 degrees in the morning and today it was 35 degrees. I don't like bundling up, I don't like being cold, and I don't like getting home past dark. But do you know what I do love?

Homemade Christmas Presents

With the extra time off I had this weekend (best thing about Thanksgiving is 4 day weekend) I started working on Christmas presents. I only got two done but I did get my dent in my shopping too. Anyhooo, I saw this picture floating around Pinterest and I knew it screamed Deeder!
Source: Uploaded by user via Jessica on Pinterest

Deeder is a hippy-type person, she love to be outside and she works as a counselor at the schools in our town so as soon as I saw it I knew I had to make it for her. DISCLAIMER: So I have a bit of a step by step on how I did it, but there are tutorials EVERYWHERE and this was NOT my idea originally, I 'borrowed' the idea but the pictures below are all mine (as well as the mess on the wall I made).

Christmas is FINALLY here!

I try REALLY hard not to decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, and it is hard sometimes, but this year I made it! On Saturday despite the wet ground the Mister and I picked up Little Miss to get our tree. As soon as we got to the tree farm Blake and I ran straight to the trees before more rain set in.
image
This was the only picture we got before the rain came, and it POURED! We couldn't bring the tree in the house because it was soaking wet. So I will have decorated pictures as soon as we get that done, but I did set up my village and forest.

Well I hope y'all enjoyed y'all's weekend and I will talk to ya soon.

Deviled egg turky

More pictures to come I bet!
O and I am sorry for the short random posts at the future inlaws and they have no wifi so I am making cell phone posts.

Happy Thanksgiving

Well I am heading out to The Mister's parents house to cook some Thanksgiving food. I just wanted to pop in to say Happy Thanksgiving! I hope y'all eat too much, watch the parade/football, enjoy family time, and have a wonderful time all together.

Check that bad boy out!! I love it, and oh my is it comfy.

Josh tried to get a picture of me sitting on the couch but didn't tell me so I was reaching over to grab Taco when he snapped the picture.

I am so in love with this. But did you notice the nasty cement floors? Ya we are hunting for new wooden floors but until then we have this, and pretty soon an area rug.

More Cakes

SAY WHAT! More cakes? Yes!!! Well, one more cake.
After my post yesterday it has been bugging me that I  did't have all of my cakes on-line or on my computer. So when I finally I got home (after getting my couch!!! YAY!) I went straight to my sewing room to hunt down some more of my cake pictures. I only found one but it is my favorite one!

Baby Shower Cake (Front View)
Check that out! I am so proud of myself because of this cake! That is 100% edible. I make the blocks out of graham crackers & fondant, the pacifier was cookie, cake, airheads, fondant.

Baby Shower Cake (Rear View)
This is the back view of the cake. The number on the back is when the baby was born (or estimated birthdate   since the cake was before the baby was born).

Baby Shower Cake (Top View)
And a top view. I seriously LOVE this cake! It tasted amazing too. (I had some scraps when I was baking it)

This cake was for my old English teacher and she loved it! Like I said yesterday I don't like to charge people. I tried to give this to her but since she was my teacher, she was not allowed to accept gifts from students, so I charged her $20 and she gave me a $20 tip on top of that because she said that even if she went to Wal-Mart it would cost more and not be this good.

Anyhoo I just wanted to share this cake with y'all. Have a great day!!

Is it low self-esteem or over-hype?

I am not sure if I have talked about her much but I have a wonderful "step"-mom I call Deeder. (She is my ex-stepdad's new wife and I love them both dearly and are still my family no matter what.) She is amazing!
006
Now that I have introduced y'all let me tell you what is going on. She has so much faith in me, it is insane! Her mother was the craftiest person I have ever met, her house was beautifully decorated, it was different each time I saw it, she canned the best jellies and salsa you would have ever tasted, and she did it all without complaint. I think that Deeder is placing that on me slightly. She knows I love crafting and canning, but she wants me to start my own little side business. She said I can decorate peoples house's or business' for the holidays, also make random crafts to sell, plus charge people for the mending on their clothes.

Now I just don't have that much faith in myself to do that. When I was first out of high school I made cakes for different occasions like I made my friends wedding shower and wedding cakes, I made a baby shower cake for one of my teachers, I made birthday cakes for friends and family and I was always super critical and I low balled the prices or I called it a gift (despite being fought a few time on that). I am not good at setting prices for my crafts/cakes and they never turn out like I imagined them to be.
revolver
This was the first time I ever user fondant or tried my hand at piping (free of charge it was a gift)
batttle3
This cake was from '07 and was for a history buff who was into war and guns.(free of charge it was a gift)
wedshower
This was the wedding shower cake. I was given like a 24 hour notice so it wasn't the best. (free of charge was a gift)

I would LOVE to stay at home and craft all day and make money doing it, but I just don't think I am good enough to make a living doing it. I also don't have faith that people would feel satisfied with the outcome, and I would feel bad. Heaven forbid someone want to haggle with me! I would go broke.

So what do you think? Is this a bad on me, low self-esteem OR is it that Deeder over-hypes my abilities?

Mini Watermelons and Couches!

My goodness what a weekend!
The mister was the Best Man at his friend's wedding so on Friday night they had the "bachelor party" at the house. And by "bachelor party" I mean 5 guys hanging out, 4 drinking plus one minor, all playing washers and well being guys. I hung out with the 'step'-daddy and his wife across the street to stay out of the guys' way. Saturday we (by that I meant me) got up and made some bacon and waffles for the hung-over boys.

DSC03244
It was weird seeing this guy^^^ being serious.

Then headed out to get my oil-changed and tires rotated. Which took FOREVER! One of my tires was lower in PSI so they fussed with that for an hour looking for the leak then giving up and putting on a new stem & resealing it for me. Luckily all tire work I get done is free because I bought this set at their shop. The too so long I had to rush to get dressed on time to head across the border (the wedding was like 20 minutes away in Louisiana{but still across a border}).

The funny part was this I rushed for no reason because the guy we were suppose to meet with was late so we just hung out for 2 hours. By we I mean me and the groomsmen & groom, I did enjoy myself the guys were cracking me up. I did not get any picture of the wedding because I really didn't know the groom too well and I didn't meet the bride until after the wedding, so the camera stayed in the car. I will have to say I wish I had busted it out the wedding was in in a field next to a pond, and behind a barn, the bride rode up on a horse & carriage, it was precious. The theme was very rustic and AMAZING! The mister should be getting a few pictures form the camera man & I will post some of them but man it was so great I hope my wedding is that nice. Any who, Mister had too much fun if you catch my drift so it was an early night because the next day we had a birthday to go to.

So Sunday we (me) had to make my little sis a cake for her birthday party at noon across the street. I left it to be decorated because she love to doodle and decorate anything she can to add her own special touch.

Laura :)
I love my sister but as you can tell she like to be different. I love it every time I see her, her makeup is crazy and her hair is ever changing.
We spent way too much time over there at the 'step'-daddy's and wife's house but we did find a BABY WATERMELON! It is an accidental watermelon just like our pumpkins but look how cute this dude is!
Fwd:
I was so excited about that. But we left to go buy a new couch!

That is the couch we are about to get! I called and they have it in stock but it might rain so I am wait to see it rains or not so I can get my wonderfully comfortable couch!

I hope y'all had a great weekend too!

Veterans Day!

I just want to pop in to say, Thank you to all the men and women who have served our great country. I come from a military family and I know the sacrifice they go through as well as their loved ones.
where are they now
Above is a picture of my step-dad and a few friends for the Corp.

Again I want to say thank you to all of the military, the families and friends of the military men & women.

Perfect Christmas Tree!

This past weekend we went to pick out our Christmas Tree. I had such a blast with the Mister, his brother and niece.

This is the tree we picked, but we walked through the trees being attacked by mosquitoes for a while because we needed 2 trees (one for each family).

Goofing off with Santa

We found so cute baby trees.

And I had to add that little short video for my cute Mister who is a donkey quite often but I love him for it.

We had such a great time and after Thanksgiving we are heading back to pick them up, and get some DELICIOUS apple cider! I would love to see y'all's trees and know what y'all as a Pre-Thanksgiving tradition.

Things I ♥ This Week!

As y'all may know I am not a fan of cold weather, and that is why I love my home it is usually so warm. But last night we got a cold front. I mean I woke up this morning to 37 degrees! I know that is not bad for many of you but I am spoiled. I lived in Missouri when I was younger and had my fill of cold and snow. But now it is cold and not the cozy kind where you can toss on a sweater and be good
Snow day
That was a first snow of the year a while back. But I remember the snow being above my head on more than one occasion when I lived there. Luckily I can only remember it snowing once in Texas since I have lived here, frost is a different story though.

Basically I went through all that to say I am not a fan of cold but it does mean some of my favorite winter things.

And lastly getting cozy in some blankets with my Mister.

Well I would love to see what y'all are loving these days. Talk to y'all soon.

Best Burgers in SeTX!

Last night my Mister surprised me with a date. It was so sweet of him. Plus the restaurant was perfect!
Willy Burgers!
Willy's Burgers! It is a 50's style diner, and had the cutest workers in all white uniform with the little paper hats and all.
image
Part of the sitting area is in an old Airstream, (I would have taken pictures of that but people were eating in there.)
image
An extra outdoor eating area. I cannot wait until the summer to eat outside, with my milkshake and a burger.
image
Speaking of burgers you can watch them make your burgers though the window that is surrounded by billiard balls. We watched for a little bit, it was fun. Plus they grind the meat fresh everyday that the burgers are so juicy and fresh.
Willy Willy good!
Look how good that is! They only make burgers, fries, milkshakes, and funnel cakes. A total 50's diner!
image
Down to the struggle to get ketchup out of the glass bottle, I wish Mister would not have started putting his whole body into it when I went in for that picture because he had the greatest angry face.
image
But like the sign says it is "Willy Willy Good".

I hope y'all had a great night like I did. O an sorry for the out the car window pictures, but it was cold outside.

Costumes

Halloween collage

Last night was a bust. We had absolutely no Trick-or-Treaters! That did mean we didn't have to stop Young Frankenstein to hand out candy. I didn't dress up because I didn't see anyone on our street and the neighbors cars were all gone(I guess they went to a bigger neighborhood to get treats). It was so nice cozying up with my Mister eating delicious red beans and rice watching the best Mel Brooks Halloween movie. Hope y'all had a great night!
