Things I ♥ This Week!

I am so excited it is fall! Right now the temp is a 86 degrees out. It is perfect! With fall comes cleaning to get your decorations out and I have been obsessed with cleaning lists!

Like that one and this one

Not only am I oddly excited to do a super clean, I am also equally excited to decorate for fall!

I also love bonfires and I think this maybe the best kind! You get the light & beauty of a normal bonfire but without the smoke smell that is so hard to get out of long hair and coats!

And boots scratch that fall clothes in general!

I may be able to pull something like this off this weekend (for when it gets in the 70s ...hopefully). I love warm weather but I am too excited for sweaters, and tall boots, and tights, and scarfs! As you can tell I am just loving fall! I am tired of our Texas drought, and tired of it being in the high 90s to low 100s. I was excited when it was in the 70s this morning. We did have a rain earlier in the month that cooled us down for a few days but the temp jumped back up real quick and brought mosquitoes with it.

Missing fictional characters

I do this after I finish a series or a book. It is like a love hate thing, I love getting to know the characters but I hate it when they leave. Like in Doctor Who when the 10th doctor reginerated into the 11th. I cried like a big baby! Don't get me wrong I love me so Matt Smith, but he is not Tennant.

Just look how cute he is, how can you not miss that?.

But it is not just Dr Who that this happens with, I know many people on line feel this way about Harry Potter. Right now I am feeling that way about the everyone from The Legend of the Seeker. It was such a short series and it was SOOO good! I miss it, and I just finished yesterday. I was telling Mister about it the whole time I was watching it even though he wasn't watching it with me, he was so lost! I want to watch more of it, to see what happens next. The show did not end with a cliff hanger but I still want to know what is next for this evil stopping group. I may go and buy the books the series was based on. I am not sure yet! What do y'all do when this happens? Do y'all re-watch the show or reread the books? I just want to know more about them. I guess this is why people write fan fiction, they are not ready to let their fictional friends go. The book series is 11 books long and by Terry Goodkind, I may have to get mister to take me to a book store this weekend. Hopefully the books will be better than the series, so I can fall in love with the characters all over again.

Who knows I may just go to the library and check the books out first to see if they are as good. All I know is I need my syfy fix and I am running out of shows to watch. If y'all have any recommendations let a girl know! I am starting Stargate SG-1 now (I hope I like it) It has Amanda Tapping in it so it should be good....Right?

Sweet sweet weekend

How was y'all's weekend?

BBQ Crabs

I had a great date night with the mister. We went out for BBQ crabs.

BBQ Crabs 2

They were SO good! I didn't even care that my stomach was upset I still dove in and chowed down. We had the platter service, which meant all you could eat. We were fatties after that meal and went home to pass out in a food coma.

Sunday was all about football. Mister was stoked that his team won again. They are undefeated thus far (which is only 3 games but he says undefeated sounds better.)But They are doing much better than they have in past seasons.

But it was a good weekend anyway. I even squeezed in some canning since H*E*B was having a produce sale. I will come back with pictures of the finished product since I forgot to take action shots(I know, I know for shame)

Pumpkin Update!

Remember that pumpkin butter we made? Well we tossed all of the scraps and seeds into the garden. And look what we found!
pumpkin patch 2
How exciting is that? We were not even expecting anything but maybe some nutrition for the soil. We have so many pumpkin plants!
pumpkin patch
We have over a dozen. And the really fun part is that we are going to save seeds for next year and grow a proper pumpkin patch in the back yard! I cannot wait. We do not have any patches locally, the churches sell them on pallets but no one sells them still on the vine. It will be nice to sit in the back yard on a hay bale sipping cider gazing at my pumpkins.

It will not be this big, but how fun will it be? I will have to find a whole bunch of recipes for pumpkins, you can only have so many jars of pumpkin butter.

Things I ♥ This Week!

2.This sign. I will absolutely have this at my house when I have kids!

3.This is me so bad. Josh makes fun of me for saying "I need to tell you something important" when it isn't.

4. I have a facebook I just never post on it and barely use it, but I am on pinterest multiple times a day.

5. This bedroom! I know it will freak a little kid out but it is so silly.

Pumpkin Butter

So I made some delicious pumpkin butter the other day! I am so excited for Thanksgiving, we are bringing them to the houses we go to and are handing them out as hostess gifts. It was fun, but hard to peel the pumpkin.

That is not my pumpkin I forgot to take a before picture. Mine was much bigger! It was 12 pounds of the 'meat'.
image
I had to have Josh peel it because the skin was so tough. But I did cut it into little pieces for him. Can you see Taco in the frame? She is so spoiled!
image
We had so much we had to put it into two batches.
image
All of this went into the garden. We were going to roast the seeds but decided to just put it all in the garden.
image
The hardest part of the whole process. The smell! O my goodness 6-8 hours of Thanksgiving smells! It was awesome, and so tempting.

It was delicious! Now it is just sitting in my pantry waiting on cooler weather.

OH MY GOODNESS!

Seriously did anyone see last night's episode of Eureka? It was amazing!
Source: hulu.com via Lindsay on Pinterest

The acting as good as usual but the whole Andy and Sarah thing was so sad. I want to go in to it but I don't want to spoil anything. I loved it and I was so glad that they brought back Taggert. And Wil Wheaton's character always cracks me up, plus he reminds me of Big Bang Theory, lol. But guys you need to watch this show, if you haven't the first seasons are on Netflix.

11 more days!

Can you believe fall is in 11 more days? Our lovely weather went away this weekend. We had such nice weather but now it is back up in the 90s. That is what I get for living in the south I guess. Just because the weather is warm that will not stop me from wishing it was a little cooler.
I did enjoy the weather this weekend at the Winnie Trade Days.
here
I love going to the trade days! You can find the greatest things. I found some cute oil lamps and some extra globes for the one at home missing a globe. It was so fun! Plus step mommy is selling fans there now, so I got to spend some time with my parents. But it was way too hot so we got so lemonade and left for Michaels. Have you seen the sales they are having right now? I am in heaven!!! I got a few things but I need to go back I am running low on yarn. Luckily the sale is going on until the 17th.
I found out that H.E.B. is now selling pumpkins! I know it is early but I am so excited!! Pumpkin butter here I come!!! Well I am off, I will have to set up my lamps to show them off to y'all & make so pumpkin butter.

Sick days

So guys I am so sorry but I have been sick this week so I have not been able to post and let you know what has been going on in my life lately. First off I moved into Josh's house and am still trying to unpack, but with being sick it has been slow going.

Another thing that has happened is that we got a nice little cold front after a nice weekend of rain. It has been so nice in the mornings it has been in the 50s and by the time I get off work it is a nice cool mid 80s. This cooler weather is great for biking and is really making me want the fall to hurry up and get here.

I mean seriously how nice looking it that tree? I wish that is how it looks down here in the fall but no. It is usually still green until the leaves all fall off in winter.

Well I may come back later with my favorite things of the week. See y'all soon
