I suck at titles

NC013524

So how was everyone's Christmas (if that is what you celebrate)? Mine was AWESOME! I learned that I am truly spoiled by my mister. I thought I got him great loot but compared to what he got me I was put to shame. I was happy to get to spend time with my family and the mister's family and loved the time off from work. I failed to get any pictures on Christmas day or eve but I can leave you with some of the Lil' Pumpkin.

Procrastination

I thought I was doing good on my Christmas gifts until this week. I have a Christmas party tonight and I have not finished crafting presents for tonight!!! I have to rush home from work and get to crocheting to finish the presents before the party at 6. After that I have only one more present before Christmas day to craft. Sorry I haven't been here much I have been in my sewing room working up a storm! I have pictures of my crafts after the big day...Spoilers

M.I.A.

Hey guys sorry for being MIA for almost a week but I have looked like this:

Yes I have gotten the dreaded yearly cold!!! Every SINGLE year I get a cold once and it is usually in the winter/Finals time. Luck for me this is the first in 4 years that I did not have finals while fighting a cold. And for those of you who are/did handle that I applaud you! (because that shizz it HARD)

Anywhoo I am better now! And before I was fully sick during the weekend I got to see my little pumpkin in her Christmas play at school and it was SUPER cute!! She was an elf building toys and singing. I did not bring my camera(I left it on the charger )  But she was super cute and my dad recorded it so when I go watch it anytime. After that it was birthday dinner YAY! We all went to Robert's Steakhouse & Meat Market which seriously has the best steak EVER!!! The meat is such good quality and we go there so much all the waitstaff knows who Blake is. Granted they always see her with different adults so they usually don't know who our parents are but they know who Blake is. But ya after that dinner is when The Mister and I took a nose dive down the sick road! All is well now I even have sparkly nails to spark up my mood since i have been so sleepy lately!

Can you tell I pop mu knuckles by this picture? Older people always say that they can tell when they see my hands. I cannot help it, it feels so good to pop them then my hands are sore or tired!

Hope y'all stay healthy! What do y'all do to get out of the slump after being sick?

Do you hang mistletoe? No, but I think we might start ;)

When do you put up your decorations? The weekend after Thanksgiving...if I can hold out that long

What is your favorite holiday tradition? The annual white elephant gift swap at my Step-dad's house with family friends, followed by game night.

Whats on top of your tree? a twinkly star

Trimming the Tree and Large Families

This weekend was HECTIC I do not have a better way to explain it. I had 2 sets of family pictures taken.

Sat at 10 we had family pictures with my Dad, Step-mom and that side of the family siblings. Everything went off with out a hitch! The pictures look great, we played at the park then went to my Dad's for shrimp etouffee and tree decorating.

image
See that cluster in the last picture? Ya that was little miss's area, that is where she put all the decorations. After some YUMMY food The Mister and I headed out for game night at the step-dad's house... By the way have y'all played The Logo Game before? I just got it for a birthday present and I love it!!! Anyhoo we finally walked across the street to go to bed around 12 or 1 which is late for old fogies like us.

Sunday I wake up and go to my Granny's for my birthday lunch at noon (the whole family goes every Sunday but the Sunday before your birthday is cake day) ready for pictures and all is good! Pictures are at 3 with all the grand-kids and if you are counting it is 5 just for my step-dad's side, 6 from my Uncle Don and 3 from my Aunt Tracy...13 in all not counting parents (because they were not in the pictures, but were present) we had ages ranging from 9 months to 28 in the pictures! Talk about CRAZY! Well by 2:30 on our way to the photographers house we find out 2 cannot make it, and 3 of the people there work shift work and the freak occurrence of having them all off at the same time will not happen again until AFTER Christmas! So we are all uber stressed out by now, oh did I mention the rain too? Yes our plan for outdoor pictures squashed because of rain! Well pictures were taken minus 2. Praise the photoshop gods for being created and helping us out! the missing 2 are being photoshopped in later just in time to be framed and wrapped for Christmas time.

I am SOOO glad that I am finished with working out the family picture situation. While we were there some Aunts were saying we should get a full family picture with the grandparents, parents, kids, and grandkids!!! Ya I decided to NOT help head up that party. I am tapped out. Well I hope y'all had a good weekend.

Does your family have trouble getting together? How easy would it be to have 3-4 generations photo taken for your family?

Cozy Nights

So as we all know I am NOT a fan of cold weather and lately it has been so cold! Yesterday was 32 degrees in the morning and today it was 35 degrees. I don't like bundling up, I don't like being cold, and I don't like getting home past dark. But do you know what I do love?

Sitting by the fire watching movies.

Sipping hot cocoa all wrapped up in blankets crocheting.

And being able to admire my beautiful half decorated tree.(we need to buy some more ornaments)

Homemade Christmas Presents

With the extra time off I had this weekend (best thing about Thanksgiving is 4 day weekend) I started working on Christmas presents. I only got two done but I did get my dent in my shopping too. Anyhooo, I saw this picture floating around Pinterest and I knew it screamed Deeder!
Source: Uploaded by user via Jessica on Pinterest

Deeder is a hippy-type person, she love to be outside and she works as a counselor at the schools in our town so as soon as I saw it I knew I had to make it for her. DISCLAIMER: So I have a bit of a step by step on how I did it, but there are tutorials EVERYWHERE and this was NOT my idea originally, I 'borrowed' the idea but the pictures below are all mine (as well as the mess on the wall I made).

Christmas is FINALLY here!

I try REALLY hard not to decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, and it is hard sometimes, but this year I made it! On Saturday despite the wet ground the Mister and I picked up Little Miss to get our tree. As soon as we got to the tree farm Blake and I ran straight to the trees before more rain set in.
image
This was the only picture we got before the rain came, and it POURED! We couldn't bring the tree in the house because it was soaking wet. So I will have decorated pictures as soon as we get that done, but I did set up my village and forest.

Well I hope y'all enjoyed y'all's weekend and I will talk to ya soon.

More pictures to come I bet!
O and I am sorry for the short random posts at the future inlaws and they have no wifi so I am making cell phone posts.

Happy Thanksgiving

Well I am heading out to The Mister's parents house to cook some Thanksgiving food. I just wanted to pop in to say Happy Thanksgiving! I hope y'all eat too much, watch the parade/football, enjoy family time, and have a wonderful time all together.

image
Check that bad boy out!! I love it, and oh my is it comfy.
image
Josh tried to get a picture of me sitting on the couch but didn't tell me so I was reaching over to grab Taco when he snapped the picture.

I am so in love with this. But did you notice the nasty cement floors? Ya we are hunting for new wooden floors but until then we have this, and pretty soon an area rug.

More Cakes

SAY WHAT! More cakes? Yes!!! Well, one more cake.
After my post yesterday it has been bugging me that I  did't have all of my cakes on-line or on my computer. So when I finally I got home (after getting my couch!!! YAY!) I went straight to my sewing room to hunt down some more of my cake pictures. I only found one but it is my favorite one!

Baby Shower Cake (Front View)
Check that out! I am so proud of myself because of this cake! That is 100% edible. I make the blocks out of graham crackers & fondant, the pacifier was cookie, cake, airheads, fondant.

Baby Shower Cake (Rear View)
This is the back view of the cake. The number on the back is when the baby was born (or estimated birthdate   since the cake was before the baby was born).

Baby Shower Cake (Top View)
And a top view. I seriously LOVE this cake! It tasted amazing too. (I had some scraps when I was baking it)

This cake was for my old English teacher and she loved it! Like I said yesterday I don't like to charge people. I tried to give this to her but since she was my teacher, she was not allowed to accept gifts from students, so I charged her $20 and she gave me a $20 tip on top of that because she said that even if she went to Wal-Mart it would cost more and not be this good.

Anyhoo I just wanted to share this cake with y'all. Have a great day!!

Is it low self-esteem or over-hype?

I am not sure if I have talked about her much but I have a wonderful "step"-mom I call Deeder. (She is my ex-stepdad's new wife and I love them both dearly and are still my family no matter what.) She is amazing!
006
Now that I have introduced y'all let me tell you what is going on. She has so much faith in me, it is insane! Her mother was the craftiest person I have ever met, her house was beautifully decorated, it was different each time I saw it, she canned the best jellies and salsa you would have ever tasted, and she did it all without complaint. I think that Deeder is placing that on me slightly. She knows I love crafting and canning, but she wants me to start my own little side business. She said I can decorate peoples house's or business' for the holidays, also make random crafts to sell, plus charge people for the mending on their clothes.

Now I just don't have that much faith in myself to do that. When I was first out of high school I made cakes for different occasions like I made my friends wedding shower and wedding cakes, I made a baby shower cake for one of my teachers, I made birthday cakes for friends and family and I was always super critical and I low balled the prices or I called it a gift (despite being fought a few time on that). I am not good at setting prices for my crafts/cakes and they never turn out like I imagined them to be.
revolver
This was the first time I ever user fondant or tried my hand at piping (free of charge it was a gift)
batttle3
This cake was from '07 and was for a history buff who was into war and guns.(free of charge it was a gift)
wedshower
This was the wedding shower cake. I was given like a 24 hour notice so it wasn't the best. (free of charge was a gift)

I would LOVE to stay at home and craft all day and make money doing it, but I just don't think I am good enough to make a living doing it. I also don't have faith that people would feel satisfied with the outcome, and I would feel bad. Heaven forbid someone want to haggle with me! I would go broke.

So what do you think? Is this a bad on me, low self-esteem OR is it that Deeder over-hypes my abilities?

Mini Watermelons and Couches!

My goodness what a weekend!
The mister was the Best Man at his friend's wedding so on Friday night they had the "bachelor party" at the house. And by "bachelor party" I mean 5 guys hanging out, 4 drinking plus one minor, all playing washers and well being guys. I hung out with the 'step'-daddy and his wife across the street to stay out of the guys' way. Saturday we (by that I meant me) got up and made some bacon and waffles for the hung-over boys.

DSC03244
It was weird seeing this guy^^^ being serious.

Then headed out to get my oil-changed and tires rotated. Which took FOREVER! One of my tires was lower in PSI so they fussed with that for an hour looking for the leak then giving up and putting on a new stem & resealing it for me. Luckily all tire work I get done is free because I bought this set at their shop. The too so long I had to rush to get dressed on time to head across the border (the wedding was like 20 minutes away in Louisiana{but still across a border}).

The funny part was this I rushed for no reason because the guy we were suppose to meet with was late so we just hung out for 2 hours. By we I mean me and the groomsmen & groom, I did enjoy myself the guys were cracking me up. I did not get any picture of the wedding because I really didn't know the groom too well and I didn't meet the bride until after the wedding, so the camera stayed in the car. I will have to say I wish I had busted it out the wedding was in in a field next to a pond, and behind a barn, the bride rode up on a horse & carriage, it was precious. The theme was very rustic and AMAZING! The mister should be getting a few pictures form the camera man & I will post some of them but man it was so great I hope my wedding is that nice. Any who, Mister had too much fun if you catch my drift so it was an early night because the next day we had a birthday to go to.

So Sunday we (me) had to make my little sis a cake for her birthday party at noon across the street. I left it to be decorated because she love to doodle and decorate anything she can to add her own special touch.

Laura :)
I love my sister but as you can tell she like to be different. I love it every time I see her, her makeup is crazy and her hair is ever changing.
We spent way too much time over there at the 'step'-daddy's and wife's house but we did find a BABY WATERMELON! It is an accidental watermelon just like our pumpkins but look how cute this dude is!
Fwd:
I was so excited about that. But we left to go buy a new couch!

That is the couch we are about to get! I called and they have it in stock but it might rain so I am wait to see it rains or not so I can get my wonderfully comfortable couch!

I hope y'all had a great weekend too!

Veterans Day!

I just want to pop in to say, Thank you to all the men and women who have served our great country. I come from a military family and I know the sacrifice they go through as well as their loved ones.
where are they now
Above is a picture of my step-dad and a few friends for the Corp.

Again I want to say thank you to all of the military, the families and friends of the military men & women.

Perfect Christmas Tree!

This past weekend we went to pick out our Christmas Tree. I had such a blast with the Mister, his brother and niece.
514
This is the tree we picked, but we walked through the trees being attacked by mosquitoes for a while because we needed 2 trees (one for each family).

Goofing off with Santa

We found so cute baby trees.

And I had to add that little short video for my cute Mister who is a donkey quite often but I love him for it.

We had such a great time and after Thanksgiving we are heading back to pick them up, and get some DELICIOUS apple cider! I would love to see y'all's trees and know what y'all as a Pre-Thanksgiving tradition.

Things I ♥ This Week!

As y'all may know I am not a fan of cold weather, and that is why I love my home it is usually so warm. But last night we got a cold front. I mean I woke up this morning to 37 degrees! I know that is not bad for many of you but I am spoiled. I lived in Missouri when I was younger and had my fill of cold and snow. But now it is cold and not the cozy kind where you can toss on a sweater and be good
Snow day
That was a first snow of the year a while back. But I remember the snow being above my head on more than one occasion when I lived there. Luckily I can only remember it snowing once in Texas since I have lived here, frost is a different story though.

Basically I went through all that to say I am not a fan of cold but it does mean some of my favorite winter things.

And lastly getting cozy in some blankets with my Mister.

Well I would love to see what y'all are loving these days. Talk to y'all soon.
