Pumpkin Patches, Emus, and Jack-o-Lanterns Oh My

This weekend we pretty much lived at my parents house. All of my relatives were in town (from my Dad's side at least) and we thought we should carve pumpkins.

Yes..we went to the same pumpkin patch two days in a row...we needed more pumpkins

We have a rule, if you can carry the pumpkin to the register you can have it. Let's just say that was not her pumpkin.

Do child labor laws count if they want to do it? lol

Our hard work in picking out the pumpkins resulted in these beauties.

Behind my Grandparents house there is a farm with horses, emus, deer and a duck who thinks he is a deer.

The Princess was a bit afraid of the emus.

We had a great weekend of family fun time. It was so nice to see my cousins and their babies, and my aunts. I cannot wait until Christmas for ALL of my family comes in.

They put Pumpkin Spice in what????

Now I am a BIG fan of pumpkin spice. If I drank coffee like I use to I would have a Pumpkin Spice Latte everyday. But I don't so I am always looking for new drinks that can contain my tasty, tasty pumpkin spice. While grocery shopping with The Mister yesterday we found the magical potion we had been searching for!

This stuff is awesome! it is thinner than most eggnog and it tastes like you are eating pumpkin pie while drinking eggnog. We also found sugar cookie eggnog but we felt that having 3 different types of eggnog in our fridge would be a bit too much, because you know we had to get classic eggnog too.

The Mister and I went to a pumpkin patch with my step-daddy and Deidre, we had a blast. Now be prepared for a ton of pictures! Oh and the funniest part, we didn't even look at the pumpkins!

Mid-hay ride stop to feed the chickens. They little chickens were so trained, as soon as we pulled up they ran to the fence to eat.

Corn cannon! This thing was awesome! I bounced off the top of the target but The Mister was the only one to actually hit it.


 I think we have a new tradition in my family of going here! They have peaches in May as well as berries so I will gladly go back. Not bad for their first year open!!

Countdown to Halloween: Pumpkins!

Today is all about PUMPKINS!!! Carved, painted, glittered, and any other way you can decorate one. 

This fancy pumpkin is so precious and perfect for a princess' Halloween party. 

Courtney from A Diamond in the Stuff made this beautiful stacked pumpkin topiary with plastic pumpkins, glitter, and wooden letters. (you should totally check out the whole Blog it is amazing)

We all know Martha is amazing but check out these lace pumpkins! I wish I had the patience to do this. 

This guy and this pumpkin! He was on Halloween Wars on Food Network and he was amazing (unfortunately he had a bad team) and his website is incredible. I wish I had his talent.

Happy Halloween all! I hope y'all have big plans for tonight. I am staying at home with the Mister and handing out candy. I am going to be dresses as a VooDoo doll, it is a costume from a few years back but I decided to reuse it. I am not a fan of the costumes at most costume shops, they are a little too revealing for my taste.

Tonight is going to be a quiet night cuddled up watching Halloween favorites like Young Frankenstein and Rocky Horror Picture Show. I cannot wait, I know I am such an old lady!.

What goodys are y'all handing out this year? Do y'all have a go to candy for Halloween? We are handing out Rice Crispy Treats... We live in a little neighborhood where everyone knows everybody so we can do hand made treats and won't get odd looks from parents.

Halloween Treats

Now I know you are thinking... What are you doing making Halloween treats when you should be getting your house presentable? Well, first off nothing is more important than making snacks with my baby sister. And, secondly.....OKAY I have no response to that. I know I need to work on the living room and get some pictures up here for you but I haven't had time. I have been home before 8 pm only one night this week and I did work on the room that night a bit. So there :P


Any who Little Miss had show -n- tell today, and when it is your day for show-n-tell you are suppose to bring snacks. Seeing how it is so close to Halloween and she just decorated pumpkins with my brother she wanted to make pumpkins. I have been seeing this floating around the interwebs so I knew it would be perfect!

The other ones may look a little fancier, but we had a blast making them! Little Miss was sneaking the mini Reeces and the icing with the Mister. I even got proof of the icing theft.



We had her sticking her tongue out all night as is was getting darker the more icing she ate.

Pumpkin Update!

Remember that pumpkin butter we made? Well we tossed all of the scraps and seeds into the garden. And look what we found! How exciting is that? We were not even expecting anything but maybe some nutrition for the soil. We have so many pumpkin plants!We have over a dozen. And the really fun part is that we are going to save seeds for next year and grow a proper pumpkin patch in the back yard! I cannot wait. We do not have any patches locally, the churches sell them on pallets but no one sells them still on the vine. It will be nice to sit in the back yard on a hay bale sipping cider gazing at my pumpkins.

It will not be this big, but how fun will it be? I will have to find a whole bunch of recipes for pumpkins, you can only have so many jars of pumpkin butter.
